it is end-of-facility-life total closure or the decommissioning of a single piece
of redundant plant within a live environment Delta Group's extensive knowledge
and expertise can create an innovative solution that safely accelerates project
schedules while enhancing the quality of result and reducing cost.
Historically mining and industrial companies have focussed closure planning only on environmental aspects of closure. Asset recovery following demolition and/or deconstruction has the ability to contribute to sustainable plant closure outcomes. Some plant may be able to be carefully dismantled and sold for re-use elsewhere enabling the recovered residual value to contribute to a cost offset. However such dismantling requires a skilled and careful reversal of the construction process which often exposes multiple workers to the risks of working at height with slung loads and additionally may cost more than the particular plant item is worth. Destructive demolition can sometimes release as much or more offset value from the sale of scrap.
Each decommissioning project involves unique challenges that need to be solved safely, quickly and at a price that represents value for money. More than 40 years of experience enables us to advise on the best methodology to provide a solution to your particular challenge. Many clients involve us early, as consulting team members, in mine and plant closure planning at DFS or even pre-feasibility study stage. Or at the pre-tender stage using an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model.
