Project Overview

Liddell Coal Operations are located approximately 22km west of Singleton in NSW"s Hunter Valley. CMA Contracting was contracted by Xstrata Coal to undertake the re​moval of the CHPP. Structures to be demolished included conveyors reject bins, tanks, crib huts, control rooms, wash plant structure and plant.

Salvage of designated items was also carried out as in accordance with the client"s request. The job was completed with an average team number of 10 men. The project was completed without incident. Equipment used on site included a 37 tonne Hitachi Excavator, an 87 tonne excavator with Hammer, Grab, Pulveriser, Buckets and Magnet attachments. Cranes, telehandlers and boom lifts were also key elements of the operational procedures.

All plant and equipment were fitted with double insulated battery cables before being allowed onsite, in accordance with Xstrata requirements. All work methods were carried out with prior approval from the client. All this was achieved with zero disturbances to Liddell Coal"s operations.
