Flinders Street Overpass

Asset One contracted Delta Group to complete demolition works for an overpass spanning one of the busiest thoroughfares in CBD Melbourne – the World Trade Centre Pedestrian Link Bridge over Flinders Street.

 
The scope of works included:

• Site preparation, including amenities, materials hoist, gantries and perimeter scaffold.
• Demolition of existing steel/concrete framed pedestrian bridge, including entry structures down to street level.
• Removal of concrete pedestals at ground level as well as concrete foundations (below ground level).
• Mobile cranage and rigging, including heavy lifts of up to 25t.
• Coordinating full closure of Flinders Street, including transport logistics and traffic management/supervision.
• Weatherproofing, infill hoarding and civil landscaping – pavements and roads.
• Emissions, noise and vibration controls.
• Recycling of construction waste materials.
• Removal of asbestos and hazardous waste.

Our work was carried out at night to ensure minimal disruption to road users, with a staged demolition programme and removal of materials completed without incident.
