Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project. It will transform Sydney, delivering more trains and faster services for customers across the network. The Sydney Metro City & Southwest project extends the new metro network from the end of Sydney Metro Northwest at Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour, through the CBD, and west to Bankstown.
As part of Transport for NSW’s plan to construct twin 15.5 kilometre railway tunnels between Chatswood and Sydenham and six new metro stations, Delta Group was contracted to design and deliver concurrent, integrated early works programmes to facilitate the transfer and re-use of land at each of these six new metro sites across metropolitan and CBD Sydney.
Operating in some of Australia’s most densely populated urban environments, in the most populous city in the Oceania region, Delta Group simultaneously demolished 60 high-medium-low rise commercial and residential structures over an accumulated 135,391 hours – without a notifiable safety incident or breaches of strict quality and environmental management standards.
We have safely removed more than 342 tonnes of HAZMAT, managed 6,934 heavy vehicle movements and recycled 81,579 tonnes of demolition and construction waste.
Delta Group mobilised 233 labourers over 36 shifts per week as well as 200 heavy plant, including 5–67 tonne excavators armed with precision attachments. All powered by innovative and proven demolition methodologies.
Sydney Metro City & Southwest is a defining project for Delta Group in the 21st century. We are proud to have played a pivotal role in shaping Sydney’s urban landscapes of tomorrow.
